Christmas was great at our house. Santa came.
In fact, Nicholas woke me up in the middle of the night to tell me that he heard bells and Santa's sleigh on the rooftop. This is due to one to many readings of "Twas the Night Before Christmas" during December. He really liked it, and can recite it, so he heard the sleigh since it really was the night before Christmas.
Besides the grand old gifts from family at Christmas Eve, Santa was great to him. He got a new tool set (see the picture). The saw and drill and light even really work. They make nice (annoying) sounds and work with all the stuff that came with the bench. He loves the tools and takes his cars over there to fix them all the time. Recently, the airplanes have started breaking down too.
Christmas was filled with fun - we only wish the child had slept in more. But he woke up and ran into our room to ask if Santa really had come. He didn't believe us until he looked downstairs and saw the packages under the tree and said "All for me?" He didn't much like that Santa brought mommy and daddy presents too - and that he wasn't allowed to unwrap them. But he got over it and played with his new toys all day long.
Jon got his iPod shuffle (amazing how Santa knows just what to get him). And Natasha got some Sonny and Reed teething bracelets (actual jewelry that is really made out of teething material). I had determined that I really like wearing jewelry and that I hate having it (1) stolen by my son to wear and being told to "share"; (2) having it covered in spit because it is the new teether, and (3) having it broken. So I asked Santa for Sonny and Reed stuff, since it is made to be teethers and unbreakable (or fixable with elastic cord if it breaks - it doesn't actually require me to work with jump rings and tools).
It was a great Christmas all around.
